Painting the outside of your home gives it a completely new appearance. This gives it added protection from the elements and increases your home’s curb appeal. The video gives tips on residential exterior painting.
Firstly, gather your supplies. You’ll need a ladder, different types of paintbrushes, rollers, a pressure washer, a scraper, drop cloths, painter’s tape, and overalls.
Prepare the walls before you paint them. Repair damaged areas and scrape away loose paint. Fill in any cracks and chips. Use the pressure washer to remove dirt and grime and allow it to completely dry. Cover your plants with a drop cloth to prevent paint from splashing on them. Remove furniture and other outdoor objects.
Apply a sealer to the masonry walls before priming and painting and let it dry. Use oil or water-based primer and paint. First, paint the roof trims and soffits. Then, start in the higher areas and go downwards. You can use a sprayer too. Don’t stop in the middle of painting a section.
A DIY paint job can save you a lot of money but be sure to follow the tips and instructions of the equipment you use, and that you have enough time to complete it without rushing.
